A modern hotel set in a quayside complex of shops and restaurants overlooking the Knysna Lagoon on South Africa's Garden Route, the Protea Hotel Knysna Quays is a short boat ride away from Featherstone Nature Reserve. The 122 contemporary guestrooms feature a cool white decor and bathrooms with hair dryers and complimentary toiletries. All rooms come equipped with satellite television, telephones, tea and coffee making facilities, and safes.
After a buffet breakfast, guests can unwind with a swim in the pool, soak up the sun on the pool deck or relax with a refreshing cocktail whilst taking in views of the lagoon. Individual moorings and jetties are available for the use of guests outside the hotel on the waterfront. Staff at the 24 hour front desk can offer advice on local sightseeing opportunities and a day's activities can be planned using Internet in the lobby. After dark guests are invited to take a dip in the floodlit pool or enjoy cocktails in the bar. The hotel is situated on the banks of the Knysna Lagoon and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean offer guests many opportunities for bathing, boating, fishing and diving. Other activities in the immediate area include abseiling and quad biking and there are a number of golf courses along the Garden Route. For those travellers who want to take it a little easier the Knysna Quays waterfront is home to a selection of bars, restaurants, boutiques and markets. There are daily trips to the Featherbed Nature Reserve; ferries can be taken 200 metres from the hotel. George Airport (GRJ) is 70 kilometres away with an approximate driving time of 60 minutes.

Guests are recommended to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel. Transfers can be arranged by the hotel for a fee. The local area is best explored by car or by boat. From the N2 national road, turn into Waterfront Drive or Grey Street (turn right when coming from George Airport or left when coming from Plettenberg Bay Airport).
